Page : Edit Rosters
Location : GM's Office - Roster Management

General Description - From this page, you may complete roster moves such as demoting, promoting or assigning players. Because this page includes so many options, there is a sub-page for each option explaining the ramifications of the chosen move. At the bottom of every help page, there is also a glossary discussing roster moves and other important information on the general manager role titled GM Basics. No moves can be made until after the world has filled and the schedule has been generated.

View - Users can choose to view player attributes such as Spring Training Stats for this season, Regular Season Stats, Current Ratings, Projected Ratings or Status Info. Stats will only be populated if that type of season has already begun. Projected Ratings will not exist until scouting budgets have been allocated.

Level - Users may also select the franchise level to view. You may choose ML, AAA, AA, Hi-A, Low-A, Rookie ball or 40-Man Roster. If you are conducting a move that requires a counter move from another level, the move will be saved in the Pending Roster Moves at the bottom of the page allowing you to switch view levels. If you simply need to see who's on your 40-Man Roster, this option will show players on your 40-Man Roster at all levels. After selecting a view type and level, please click on 'Go' to see the applicable roster.

Batters or Pitchers Needing Assignment - This box will only show up when players have been acquired and not yet assigned. To assign a player, please check the radio box next to his name, choose assign from the move dropdown and click 'Submit.' You must then choose a level for assignment and confirm the move. A set of moves can never result in a roster above its limits. Most assignments will force the demotion or designation of another player. Players must be assigned to a team within ten actual days of acquisition or they will be automatically released. For instance, if the player is signed during Free Agent Negotiations in the off-season, he must be assigned by the end of the tenth calendar day (30th game) of regular season games.

Batters or Pitchers at Level - These boxes represent the roster of players at the chosen level. To move a player, please check the radio button next to his name, select the move you would like to make and click 'Submit.' You will be directed to a page that explains this move and how it applies to this player in better detail. After confirming the move, the transaction will be listed in the Pending Roster Moves box. Ultimately, you may use the pending roster moves to finalize up to ten transactions at one time.

Active Roster Sizes - The current number (left) represents the size of your total rosters at each level if all of the moves in the Pending Roster Moves box are conducted. You will never be able to submit moves if they will result in any roster being over its maximum (right). If you are over your active roster limit in the minor leagues, but not over your total roster limit, you may deactivate players by adding them to the Inactive list via the moves dropdown list.

Total Roster Sizes - The current number (left) represents the size of your active rosters at each level if all of the moves in the Pending Roster Moves box are conducted. You will never be able to submit moves if they will result in any roster being over its maximum (right).

Pending Roster Moves - This box will display all moves that you have entered, but not yet confirmed. To remove a move from this list, please click 'Undo.' Once you have verified that you would like to conduct all of the moves in this list and that they are all legal moves, please click 'Submit.' You will receive confirmation that the moves have been conducted. Affected players should be at their correct levels and rosters will be updated. To remove all Pending Roster Moves at one time, please click 'Clear.'

Rookie League Note - Players assigned to the Rookie League club prior to the start of the Rookie League season will not receive daily rest since they are considered to be performing daily duties in extended spring training.

Spring Training Invites - Players invited to camp on a spring training invite will be automatically released if not signed by the last spring training game.

Playoff Eligibility Note - In order for a player to be eligible for a spot on the big league playoff roster, he must be on the 40-man roster prior to the date rosters expand. Any player on the 40-man roster but not on the big league roster is then eligible to replace any player injured before or during the playoffs at the beginning of each round.

Roster Mode - When you first start playing HBD, you are in "Basic" roster mode. Once you are comfortable with the rules, you can move to "Advanced" mode on the User Settings page.

- This player has an associated note in his profile.

- This player will be exposed in this season's Rule 5 Draft because he has at least 4 years of pro experience, is not on the 40-man roster and is not signed beyond this season. Players signed to Spring Training Only contracts (non-roster invitees) or who were acquired the day before the roster freeze are also excluded from the Rule 5 Draft.

- This player is a Rule 5 pick this season and must remain on the team's big league squad or be offered back to his original team. You have until spring training to add this player to your big league team or else he'll be automatically offered back to his original franchise. If it's after spring training and he's been acquired via waiver claim or trade, you have 3 days (72 hours) to assign him to your big league team or else he'll be automatically offered back to his original franchise.
